With 7-color UltraChrome inks, 2880 x 1440 dpi resolution, and ultra- fine 4-picoliter ink droplets, the large-format EPSON Stylus Photo 2200 delivers remarkable archival photos. It even offers true borderless photo printing on glossy media in six popular sizes, plus PRINT Image Matching technology for the best quality photos from PRINT Image Matching-enabled digital cameras.
Ink and media versatility is a strong suit of this printer. Paper handling on the 2200 is very good. In addition to a top-loading sheet feeder and separate roll- feeder, the unit also has a straight-through paper path that can feed media up to .05 inches thick. The 2200 uses seven different color inks. In addition to the normal photo-printer colors -- cyan, light cyan, magenta, light magenta, yellow, and black (called Photo Black) -- the 2200 adds a light black ink for improved gray-scale printing.
The advantage of the pigmented inks used in the 2000 series is longevity. Epson claims a print life of up to 80 years - four times longer than the best dye-based printer, and equivalent to most photographic processes.
The EPSON Stylus Photo 2200 is ideal for anyone who is serious about photography, ranging from amateurs to professional portrait, commercial and fine art photographers.
If neither speed nor costs are of paramount importance then the Epson 2200 is today's hands-down choice in a photographic printer.

After owning the 2000P and being very disappointed with its results, the 2200 is a dream. The first photo prints out of the box from the 2200 were a very close match to my calibrated monitor using the standard Epson driver settings. This printer "fixes" the problems with the 2000P including metamerism. I have not used the included paper cutter attachment for roll paper, but, the idea that it is included for the price represents a major step in providing professional quality desktop digital darkroom capability that is affordable by any pro or amateur photographer interested in controlling the complete print process. I love it!
