Pentax has today announced a new series of interchangeable lenses which are optimised for use on digital SLRs such as the *ist D (though the image circle is large enough to cover a full 35mm frame if used on a film camera). The first two lenses in the range are the smc PENTAX-D FA Macro 100mm F2.8 and the smc PENTAX-D FA Macro 50mm F2.8. Both are considerably more compact and lightweight than the standard smc PENTAX-FA versions, and each comes complete with a metal lens hood. The macro lenses offer a maximum magnification of 1:1 (lifesize) and feature a Quick-Shift focus system when mounted on a Pentax *ist D.
