When mounted on a Pentax digital SLR camera (Pentax *istD or Pentax *istDS ), this new lens offers a wide four-times zoom ratio and offers focal lengths equivalent ( in the 35mm format ) from 76.5mm to 306mm. This wide coverage is ideal for a variety of telephoto applications, including portraiture, sports and scenery.
Compact design Thanks to newly developed optics and lens barrel, the lens measures only 78.5 millimeters long and weighs a mere 255 grams. This assures exceptional maneuverability and operability during shooting, and excellent portability during transport despite the four-times zoom ratio and outstanding optical performance. The lens incorporates an ED ( Extra-low Dispersion ) glass element in its optics to effectively compensate for various aberrations and assure more faithful image reproduction.
